Dear Editor, It would be long enough for cricket analysts, players and fans to gulp down the debacle. Not altogether a game of chance, strategies have their vital role. For instance, greasing our tail-enders and turning them into all-rounders hasn’t been given due weight. Cricket history stands witness, where all-rounders like Kapil Dev, BS Bedi, Karsan Ghavri, Madan Lal, Mohinder Amarnath, Bhajji, Imran Khan, Ben Stokes and others have created a history. Whenever the team suffered a setback, all desperately looked towards the tail-enders for rescue. We have seen how daringly and discreetly every tail-ender of England and New Zealand struggled and scored. Our bowlers should be capable of handling tactful deliveries to protect not only the wicket, but also save fours and sixes. A single format creates monotony. Batting would add to their skills too. Gurnam Singh Seetal, Khanna.
