Even before the finalisation of schedule for elections in Jammu and Kashmir, highly vocal political heavyweights have begun to cast aspersions on the Election Commission of India, giving an impression as if the crucial polls will be tampered. Congress and National Conference smell rat in the conduct of polls beyond December while Panthers Party supremo has gone on record saying that ‘importing Gujarat-manufactured EVMs to J and K shall prove counterproductive’, a fact immediately denied by the ECI.
Is it a matter of pride or shame for politicians to undermine the authority of highly acclaimed ECI only because they smell big defeat for their parties in the upcoming elections?
