If reports are to be believed, the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Iqbal Khandey, who has opted to relinquish office three months ahead of his superannuation, is being pursued to reconsider his decision, not for continuation of an upright officer but to save the government from a big embarrassment. The issue has come as a lever in the hands of the Opposition to hammer the PDP-BJP coalition on the eve of completion of its six months in office.
Is it a matter of pride or shame for a government in the sensitive state to remain mired in self-created controversies rather than concentrating on governance and improving its performance on political, administrative and developmental fronts?
