SPORTS REPORTER JAMMU: Beating the Jammu Blues by three goals to nil, the visiting side of district Poonch lifted the VK Kohli Trophy for J&K Hockey Championship held under the banner of Hockey Jammu and Kashmir at K K Hakku Stadium, here on Friday. Matinder Pal Singh struck twice in the 32nd and 49th minutes of game to help Poonch take away the all important match. Earlier, Pawan Kumar brought in the first blood in the 23rd minute. The title trophy was presented by the Chief Guest, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), Ramesh Kumar. Commissioner Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Sarmat Hafeez presided. Besides the title trophies, the Hockey J&K presented hockey sticks and complete goal-keeper kits to the participating teams. In addition, the Shaeed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation gave one dozen hockey balls to each participating teams, sponsored by Rajiv Sharma (industrialist). The Sham Lal Hockey Academy, Poonch also presented hockey stick to youngest player of the tournament, Gurjit Singh. The final was officiated by the technical panel including Brajesh Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Salim, Manish Kumar (all from Hockey India), Gurmeet Kour, Anjali and Talib Hussain. Present among others include Dr Taran Singh (Secretary General Hockey J&K), Rajinder Singh Kuku (General Secretary Hockey India), Rajiv Sharma (Vice President), Gurdeep Singh Sarangal (Treasurer), Talib Hussain, Azad Wani, Angat Singh, Ravi Raj Singh, Jaspal Singh, Avtar Singh, Manjit Singh, Khalid Bashir Shopian, Raja Yaqoob, Sunil Sharma and Hermenan Singh.
