The programme was presided over by SSP Jammu, Tejinder Singh, along with SHO Police Station Miran Sahib, SI Gurupal Singh and Incharge Border Police Post Kullian, Yougal Sharma.
The programme was attended by a large number of people, including Sarpanchs and prominent citizens from Simbal Camp and its adjoining areas. The participants raised various concerns, particularly, the drug menace, illicit liquor and traffic issues.
Their concerns were well received and they were urged to support the recently launched “Care for your Buddy” programme against drug abuse and for drug awareness.
It was mutually discussed that the social cost of drug addiction is incapacitating for any society and that all stakeholders – the police, the families and social institutions- needed to jointly fight the menace of drug abuse in society to safeguard the future generations.
The people were assured of timely disposal of their genuine grievances and were encouraged to be responsible and law abiding in their individual capacities.
