STATE TIMES NEWS BILLAWAR: Senior Congress leader and Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia on Sunday criticised Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for befooling people of country in the name of development. “You may be able to befool some people some time, but you can’t befool people all the time,” Scindia said while addressing an election campaign rally in support of Congress candidate from Kathua Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency, Vikramaditya Singh here on Sunday. Scindia said that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi visited various parts of the country just to gather votes of people during election time, without any intention to solve their problems. Coming down heavily on BJP, Scindia said, “BJP projects PM Modi everywhere in the country including J&K because party’s Member of Parliament did nothing for people of the constituency.” He asked BJP MP how many times he raised the issue of Billawar Assembly segment in Lok Sabha. Jyotiraditya Scindia slammed BJP for exploiting sentiments of people for the electoral gains and doing nothing on ground for people of the country including farmers, businessmen, border-dwellers and women. He said that Modi’s demonetisation, GST and Kashmir-policy have drawn flak from every quarter of the country and that is why the team BJP, including Dr Jitendra Singh, are avoiding to name any of these issues in their failed election campaign. The senior Congress leader appealed to people for giving a befitting reply to BJP’s failed policies by voting in large numbers for Congress.
Lambasting the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for his attack on Congress, senior Scindia asserted that Congress’ contributions in the progress of country since independence is well known to every citizen of the country and there is no need of BJP to certify the same. Reacting sharply to Modi’s allegation that Congress has ruined the nation, Scindia said, “It was only Congress and its leaders like Pt Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi, etc who ensured steady progress and colossal development in the country to make India so strong, that it is now a part of group of few elite countries which have a strong socio-economic profile, with matchless advancement in fields of science, education, agriculture etc.” He said that Congress made India that much strong that the country withstood prevalent chaotic situation by misrule of BJP and is still moving ahead without much difficulty.
Congress Lok Sabha candidate, Vikramaditya Singh, while taking a jibe at Dr Jitendra Singh’s alienation towards Udhampur constituency, said that the Union Minister always visited Billawar on a chopper and is not aware of villages, people and their issues. He said that ‘flying candidate’ of the constituency can never feel the problems being faced by people on ground level.
Singh said that Nyuntam Aay Yojana (NYAY), the Minimum Wage scheme announced by Rahul Gandhi aims to provide poorest 5 crore Indian families an amount of Rs 72,000 every year. Appreciating the scheme, Vikramaditya Singh said that it will lift millions out of poverty. Condemning BJP for spreading lies against Congress and claiming that the party has not contributed anything in the development of country, Vikramaditya Singh made a scathing attack on saffron party by saying that it is the party which believes in lip-service only as was seen in case of 33 per cent reservation to women.
Later, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Vikramaditya Singh in one voice appealed people to support Congress for ushering a new era of development in the country especially in J&K.
