Governor Satya Pal Malik’s arrival in Jammu and Kashmir is being seen as good omen for the State. Albeit, at certain point of time voice of dissent was raised against the relatively new incumbent by certain quarters on his decision to dissolve the State Assembly abruptly which was earlier kept in suspended animation accusing him of showing bias and prejudice against ideology of some of the political outfits but then without wasting a jiffy the Governor made clear his stand that too without mixing the words and was able to convince one and all that whatever was carried out in that context was in the interest of the people. This clarity of mind and straightforwardness put to rest all the doubts which earlier were raised by political class in the State and those considered to be intelligentsia in the political circles. This move to clear his stand seems to have even irked the political party sitting at the helm in centre but sooner than later things came back on tracks with Governor instilling hope and confidence among people of Jammu and Kashmir and bringing home the feeling that he is the man of Awam (people).
Continuing with his steady and upright stride, the Governor of the people Satya Pal Malik on Wednesday once again came before media divulging about the stand of each of the political outfit having relevance in the State regarding its views on timing of State Assembly polls whether the same should be clubbed with Lok Sabha or to be held separately after the parliamentary elections or before. As far as Malik was concerned, he batted for early polls to hand over reins of State to popular Government claiming that he wanted to get relieved from the responsibility. Putting the ball in the court of Election Commission of India regarding the decision on poll schedule in J&K, Governor in clear words said all political parties, except Mehbooba Mufti-led Peoples Democratic Party, want early polls. He had earlier announced that his administration is all set to hold both State as well as Lok Sabha polls in J&K.
He however made it clear that State BJP and Congress party wanted the Assembly polls to be held along with the Lok Sabha elections, the National Conference wanted it to be held as soon as possible and it is only the PDP which wanted these to be delayed. Malik’s steadfastness in placing facts before people without any turn or twists has made him Governor of the people which he himself has endorsed in yesterday’s media interaction claiming that he has made ‘intense outreach’ his new year’s resolution and has opened Raj Bhawan for the people of the State.
