RAMBAN/SUNDERBANI: As part of their province wide protest, the need based and casual employees of Power Development Department (PDD)of Ramban District held a protest in front of the Office of the Executive Engineer on Monday.
About 170 casual and need based employees of Ramban District led by All Jammu Province Casual/Need Based Workers’ Union (AJPCNBWU),District President, Bilal Ahmed sat on a day long Dharna and raised slogans for their demand of the release of wages pending for the past many years.
Later they submitted a memorandum to the Executive Engineer,PDD,M& RE, Batote, Hassan Mohammed.
Their major demands included release of pending wages of the 3,405 casual and need based employees including 170 such employees of Ramban District working in the PDD in various parts of Jammu province from the Outsourcing Account Head No.363 , implementation of SRO 520 and Insurance Policy for them.
District Vice President, Mohammed Sarwar and Balkrishen under the patronage of AJPCNBWU Jammu Province President,Akhil Sharma and INTUC leader Gafoor Dar also participated in the protest.
Meanwhile, a similar protest was held at Sunderbani under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department (PDD) Need Base Casual Labourer Union outside the office of the PDD Sunderbani and protesters raised slogans in support of their demands urging the higher authorities of PDD to release their pending wagers
Kamal Din, Sukhdev Singh, Vicky Singh, Sumir Sharma, Suresh Kumar were also present.
