STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: A deputation of daily wagers of Power Development Department (PDD) on Friday called on Sham Lal Sharma, former minister and BJP leader and apprised him of various problems being confronted by them. The members of delegation apprised that there are about 735 employees in the PDD, with seven years of service and are eligible for promotion to the graded scale but same has not been granted in their favour till date. However it is astonishing that all employees belonging to Valley have been considered for promotion, but in case employees belonging to Jammu region, out of 735, only 200 plus are being considered for promotion under SRO 381, they added. Sharma expressed anguish over the discrimination and said that all the three regions are equally governed by uniformed rules and policies. He expressed concern on regularisation of PDD employees, as those with seniority upto 2012 belonging to Kashmir region have since been regularised but the fate of similar placed employees of Jammu region is still hanging in balance. Sham Lal took up the aforesaid matter with PDD authorities and asked them why there is discrimination between employees of two regions who are governed with uniform rules and regulations. He further urged them to look into the issue and other similar cases for immediate redressal.
