State Times News JAMMU: Residential areas in Pallanwala and Khour sectors of Akhnoor along Line of Control in Jammu region bore the brunt of night long heavy shelling on Monday. After a brief lull, Pakistan army trained guns towards civilian areas using long range mortars. Panic stricken residents remained closeted inside their houses throughout the night for their safety. Though several shells landed in the courtyards and roof tops of several houses in the forward areas of Khour, no loss of life and injury was reported from the area. At the same time tell tale signs of mass destruction were visible as several houses were targeted by the Pakistan army.
A rifleman of the Indian army was earlier martyred in the heavy exchange of firing on Monday in Keeri Battal area of Sunderbani in Rajouri district.
Local residents in the area on Tuesday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to find a permanent solution to border tension in the area.
Villagers in the area said public support is with the Government of India and they are ready to face the hardships in order to teach Pakistan a lesson. “We want permanent solution. We want Government of India to take firm action against Pakistan to ensure future generations live in peace”, villagers affected by the border tension appealed.
