UDHAMPUR: The three-day historic Devika Baisakhi Mela being observed on the bank of Holy Devika Rivulet, concluded on Sunday with traditional fervour and gaiety. The Mela saw participation of more than 1 lakh visitors including men, women and children of all faiths.
During the Mela, the visitors enjoyed the festivities and offered prayers in the temples. The Mela also featured variety of cultural programme based on rich folk culture and heritage of the state. These were organised by Bureau of Outreach Communication Ministry Information and Broadcasting, Government of India in collaboration with Information, Education, District Youth Services and Sports, Nehru Yuva Kendra.
Renowned local folk artists Romalo Ram and party presented cultural performance depicting rich folk lore, besides on themes including ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ which was appreciated by the audiences.
Among others, Naib Tehsildar, Ashok Kumar, in charge Field Outreach Bureau, Gurnam Singh, besides other officers/officials of concerned departments were present on the occasion.
