JAMMU: The First Kartar Singh Memorial Open Table Tennis Championship, organised by Stag Jammu TT Academy, started on Friday at Nanak Nagar, here involving around 150 players, including State champions.
The event was declared open by Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Manmohan Singh. President Jammu Chamber of Traders Federation, Neeraj Anand and senior India ranked former TT players, Ajay Sharma, Satbir Singh, Sanjay Wahi, Sanjeev Gupta, Renuka Thussu, Sanjeev Nagpal, Harinder Mahajan, I.P Singh and Manmeet Kaur were among others present.
The Chief Guest, Commissioner JMC appreciated the efforts of the senior coach, Ramesh Magotra and I.P Singh for setting up Stag Table Tennis Academy with all the necessary facilities. Meanwhile, an exhibition match was played between Cadet Champions, Iknoor Kour and Rohan Langar.
Cadet Boys up to 12 yrs: Madhav beat Agrim 11-05, 11-06; Ariv Gupta defeated
Shivain 11-04, 11-07; Sourav trounced Kanav 11-06, 11-08; Karmanya Wahi blanked Arindam 11-05, 11-02; Aarit Bargotra beat Abiral Dewan 11-05, 11-06; Arya Gupta defeated Krish Sachdeva 11-06, 07-11, 11-08.
The matches were officiated by the technical panel comprising Sandeep Khadotra, Menu Ragesh, Shazzer and Ramesh Magotra.
