KATHUA: Police on Sunday arrested a smuggler and recovered 38 kg poppy bulbs from his possession.
According to report, Kathua Police received an information at around 5 PM on Sunday that a Scorpio JK 14B 9363 after hitting a motorcycle at village Sad under Police Station Rajbagh fled towards Maglore on Danibasta-Maglore Road. Consequently, a police party headed by DySP Operations Rakesh Parihar and Incharge Police Post Dinga Amb Krishan Pathania which was already on patrolling duty in the area was informed. On this information, the police party intercepted the aforesaid vehicle at Maglore. During checking of vehicle which was being driven by Liaqat Ali, son of Shafi, resident of Dhanibasta, 38 Kg of popy bulbs were recovered.
Upon this, a case vide FIR No. 43/17 under Sections 8 and 15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Hiranagar and investigation was started by SHO Hiranagar Amit Sangra. The whole Operation was conducted under the supervision of Pawan Parihar SSP Kathua.
