RAJOURI: With an aim to act strictly against chronic drug peddlers, who are time and again found involved in drug peddling, Rajouri Police on Saturday detained a local notorious drug peddler under Public Safety Act (PSA).
He has been identified as Mohd Shakoor son of Mohd Bashir resident of Dhandidhar near Rajouri town.
He has been detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) under the orders of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and has been lodged in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
The said drug peddler has been found repeatedly engaged in organised illicit traffic of Narcotic Drugs and Psychiotropic Substances (NDPS), which has posed a serious threat to the health and welfare of the people of Rajouri and with a view to prevent him from committing any of the acts in future, he has been detained under PSA on the recommendations of Rajouri Police.
He is involved in seven FIRs registered in different police stations which include FIR No. 398/2011 U/S 341/509/RPC (P/S Rajouri), FIR No. 495/2011 U/S 307/RPC (P/S Rajouri), FIR No. 320/2012 U/S 8/20/NDPS Act ( P/S Rajouri), FIR No. 137/2013 U/S 341/323/504/506/RPC ( P/S Rajouri, FIR No. 140/2016 U/S 8/21/22/NDPS Act ( P/S Nowabad Jammu), FIR No. 36/2017 U/S 307/RPC, 3/25 A.Act (P/S Rajouri) and FIR No.83/2017 8/21/22/27/29 NDPS Act (P/S Manjakote).
Rajouri District Administration has devised a strategy to act tough against more such chronic drug peddlers in upcoming days.
