SAMBA: Ghagwal Police on Saturday foiled a major bovine smuggling bid and rescued nine bovines.
According to report, a Police Party from Police Station Ghagwal headed by SI Rajeshwar Singh, SHO Ghagwal during checking in wee hours at Naka Tapyal, intercepted a Truck (JK14A-8082), which was coming from Kathua side. On seeing Police Party, the driver tried to flee from the spot but after being chased by the police party, he abandoned the vehicle at Jatwal and escaped from the spot. During checking of the vehicle, nine bovines were found loaded in the vehicle, which were being transported illegally. The vehicle and the bovine animals were seized and a case FIR No.90/2017 under Sections 188/RPC, 2/3 PCA Act and 183/MV Act was registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started to nab the driver. The whole operation was held under the guidance of SSP Anil Magotra and DySP Tanveer Ahmed.
