KISHTWAR: Kishtwar Police on Monday lodged an FIR against NHIDCL, the road maintenance authority for NHW-244 (Batote-Kishtwar-Sinthan-Top Road) for negligence resulting into loss of precious lives in a recent accident held at Kuligadh Drabshalla in Kishtwar.
Acting sternly against the Road Maintenance Authority NHIDCL, entrusted with repair and maintenance of aforesaid road and under the directions of SSP Kishtwar Rajinder Kumar Gupta, police has lodged an FIR at Police Station Kishtwar over the incident of landslide/ shooting stones that claimed seven lives besides injuring several others. On August 25, 2018, on the basis of report entered in Police Post Drabshalla vide DDR No. 18 an enquiry was conducted which revealed that on August 20, 2018, Constable Mukesh Kumar No. 518/Ktr deployed for Yatra duty near slide zone Kulgadi Drabshalla telephonically informed Police Post Drabshalla that at around 10:45 AM, a Matador and Car having Machail Mata devotees on board came under shooting stones/slide at Kulgad, resulting into deaths and injuries to yatris. The probe further revealed that the incident in question occurred due to negligence and carelessness of NHIDCL leading to loss of precious lives. Accordingly, an FIR under Sections 336 and 304 RPC was registered against NHIDCL and its Contractor company viz SRM Contractors.
Subsequently, notices under Section 160 Cr.PC were issued against Managing Director SRM Contractors Private Limited and General Manager (P) NHIDCL Branch Office Jammu through SSP Jammu with the direction to cooperate with the Investigating Officer.
