JAMMU: To offer rich tributes to Lieutenant Ummer Fayaz, who was abducted and killed by the militants in an appalling act of cowardice after kidnapping him from the marriage party of his cousin last week, Sainik School Nagrota Ex-Students Association (NEXAS), shall organise a candle light vigil at Balidan Stambh on 20th May, 2017. “We shall conduct the candle light vigil at the above mentioned venue from 6:00 PM onwards, in which students, professionals, representatives of the civil society shall join,” Chairman of the Association, R.S Billawaria told reporters here on Thursday.
He also condemned the inhuman and dastardly act of mutilating and beheading of BSF Head Constable Prem Sagar and Army JCO Naib Subedar Paramjit Singh by Pakistan sponsored Border Action Team (BAT). “We intend to reach out to the family of Lt. Ummer in this time of grief and also to sensitise the civil society to the sacrifice of this brave officer who succumbed to sheer cowardice of the militants,” he said. He expressed his feeling that Lt. Ummer Fayaz, who hailed from militancy infested Kulgam district of Kashmir and was commissioned in 2nd Rajputana Rifles as a young officer, has emerged as the role model for the Kashmiri youth and his cold blooded murder would continue to shame and humiliate the militants who try to gain high moral ground in justifying their dastardly acts. “We appeal to the civil society to come forward in large numbers to express solidarity and pay homage and tributes to our brave Martyrs who laid down their lives in the line of duty,” he said.
