STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: In continuation to its drive against drug trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau Jammu seized 74.5 Kg Charas from a truck at Ban Toll Plaza. As per reports, the NCB Jammu intercepted a truck bearing registration no JK02U-9325, coming from Kashmir and on search found 74.5 Kg Charas, which was concealed in 5 travelling bags (47 packets). The NCB team seized the drug and arrested Shahnawaz Ahmad Kada, age-42 years, resident of Anantnag, Srinagar from the spot. During preliminary investigation, the arrested person revealed that the drug, originated from Anantnag, was on the way to Mumbai. During follow up action, 2 more persons, who were supplier of drug, namely Ali Mohammad Khan (63 years) and Mohd Hussain Khan (48 years) both residents of Anantnag, were apprehended from Jammu Airport by NCB officials. With the arrest of carrier and suppliers along with a major haul of drug and vehicle, the NCB foiled an attempt of drug smuggling. Pertinent to mention here that it was the biggest seizure of Charas in current year affected by NCB Zonal Unit Jammu and continuous efforts are on to nab drug smugglers. Further investigation is under process to explore linkages between drug smuggling from Kashmir valley to other States.
