STATE TIMES NEWSKATHUA: Jammu Sanskriti School (JSS) Kathua celebrated National Science Day to commemorate the contribution of great Indian Physicist Dr. CV Raman who discovered the Raman scattering effect. Young scientists of the School displayed plethora of hands on experiments and showcased their talent and versatility. This year, the theme of Science Day is ‘Women in Science’ to empower the role of women in the field of Science. Principal, Mili R Sumbria congratulated the mentors Shiwali, Vishali, Munisha along with Sourav (TGT Science) and Nidhi (TGT Science ).
Oxford Path Higher Secondary School celebrated National Science Day to commemorate the discovery of Raman Effect by the Nobel laureate C.V Raman. The school teachers along with students participated in the event. The teachers motivated the students on the general aspects of science and its application to technology. The Chairperson Basanti Ambardar was also present on the occasion. On account of Science Day celebration 2020, several events like just a minute, multimedia, science quiz, science working model, science paintings were presented by the students of classes 6th, 7th and 9th. The deserving students were appreciated with certificates and prizes.
Government College of Education celebrated National Science Day, Principal, Prof. Sangita Nagari was the Chief Guest and Dr. Jugal K. Puri was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Prof. Nagari highlighted the significance of celebrating the Science Day in remembrance of C.V Raman. She further stressed upon the role of Science in changing the status of women. Dr. Neelam Dhar, Dr. Sindhu Kapoor, Dr. Rajinder Kaur, Dr. Tahira Shah, Dr. Sushma Bala, Prof. Rubeena Yasmeen, Prof. Neelam Kumari, Prof. Seema Kumari, Prof. Shapia Shamim and Karuna Balotra (staff members) were also present. Students participated in the exhibition of posters on the contribution of eminent women scientists in the various fields of Science. Students and staff members also participated in plantation drive. The programme was organized and coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Jyoti Parihar, Associate Professor Science Department.
