UDHAMPUR: Information Deptt Udhampur, organised a multilingual Mushaira and debate in the premises of Govt. High School Konain about 18 km away from Sub Divisional HQ Ramnagar on Wednesday.
The prominent poets of the Sub Division which mainly include Thakur Das Samthial, Des Raj, Jagdish Chander, Babu Ram, Romal Singh, Ashok Kumar, Arjun Singh, Virander Kumar, Madan Lal, and Mohan Lal besides budding poets Kiran, Ram Singh and Krishan Lal participated in the poetic Mushaira and presented poetic verses touching all aspects of society.
Headmaster of the Govt. High School, Ramaloo Ram was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of Information department for organising Mushaira and debate and said that such programmes should be organised in near future too so that people in general and literary personalities particularly may participate in them.
Similarly, Parmjeet Singh, a student of 10th was adjudged best speaker in the Debate on “Advantage and Disadvantage of Television ” held in the premises of Government High School Konain.
Second and third positions were clinched by Rakesh Singh of class 9th and Sheetal Devi of class 10th respectively. Two consolation prizes were also given to Shiv Dev Singh and Haleema Begam both of 10th class. The participants were awarded prizes and certificates of merit.
As many as 10 students of the host institution participated in the debate and expressed their views on the topic.
Pucher Ram, Kiran Bala and Arjun Singh acted as judge in the programme.
