JAMMU: Some vital documents went missing after a group of burglars allegedly struck at the office of the Regional Transport Officer in Narwal area.
According to reports, burglars struck at the RTO’s office Jammu in the wee hours and decamped with important documents.
“Theft of records and other documents was reported in the office of the RTO on Saturday morning,” police said, adding that soon after the matter was reported, the office was sealed and nobody was allowed to enter the premises.
Police said, “A dog squad and FSL team was rushed to the spot to investigate the matter.”
“As per the scene of the crime spot, the a door at the backside of the building was damaged by the burglars while the CCTV camera and system was found lying on the ground,” said police.
They said that the almarahs inside the premises were brokeopen and also records appears to have been stolen.
“We cannot say at this moment about the missing records but police is verifying and investigating the matter,” Deep Raj Kanathia, RTO Jammu told reporters.
He said that exact details will be divulged only after status of the missing records ascertained.
“The matter is being investigated and so far nothing substantial has been found,” police added.
