STATE TIMES NEWS LEH: For ensuing better future for Ladakh after grant of Union Territory (UT) status, the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) launched a forum ‘Think Tank’ here on Tuesday, comprising of a number of experts, politicians, scholars, religious leaders, media, retire officers and social activists. MIMC created the forum to formulate strategies and practical initiatives for making Ladakh a role-model in fast-growing modern world besides holding meetings in Ladakh, Delhi and other areas at Nation and International level, by involving expert from different fields to prepare a road-map for Ladakh’s future. Talking about the purpose for launching the forum, MIMC Founder Director Bhikkhu Sanghasena said that in wake of recent UT announcement by the Union Government, a lot of talks and debates are going on in various social media platforms, creating a panic among public. Therefore, the MIMC decided to create the forum, so that together all can build Ladakh physically strong, mentally brilliant, culturally rich, morally lofty, spiritually enlightening, socially congenial, materially prosperous, globally friendly, environmentally pure and clean and religiously harmoniously, he added. Appreciating Bhikkhu Sanghasena for creating the platform, MLC Chering Dorje said that with announcement of UT, it was a much needed platform for preparing a road-map for Ladakh’s future by involving all stakeholders. He further added that UT status will empower Panchayati Raj thereby strengthening micro-level planning at village level. He further added that Ladakh needs to think about outsider investors as per requirements. Ambassador P Stobdan said that world has become quite complex and we have to accept UT status with lots of opportunities and challenges. We must sharpen ourselves to move ahead in calculated manner, he added. Hill Council former Chief Executive Councillor, Rigzin Spalbar said that it was the right time to prepare a vision for Ladakh’s future by inviting all stakeholders, including students and youth. Keeping Hill Council intact with UT itself is a huge positive achievement for Ladakhis and all must collectively explore various option to empower Council, he added. Ex-MLA Tsering Samphel said that more such round table discussion must be held by including all stakeholder including religious head, retired officers, experts and Members of Parliament. Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam President, Dr Abdul Qayoom said that Muslims community is willing to support the collective decision for the larger interest of people. Scholar Thupstan Paldan, Nawang Tsering Shakspo, ex-EC Mohd Shafi Lassu, Sonam Wangchuk Shakspo and Morup Namgyal also spoke on the occasion. Bhikkhu Sanghasena also announced to honour Kargil-war and UT martyrs during 73rd Independence celebrations.
