STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: A secular Mela was organised at historical Lohar Devta Mandir located on Line of Control in Krishna Ghati, district Poonch on the occasion of Budh Purnima. The Mela was jointly organised by the civil populace and the army at this centuries old holy place under the chairmanship of Advocate Rajinder Singh. People of all the communities took part and represented a model of communal harmony. Besides DDC Poonch Rahul Yadav, Commander 93 Inf Bde Brig Munish Gupta, Commander 10 Inf Bde Brig J.T.S Krishna, SSP Poonch Romesh Angral, CO 39 RR, CO 4 MLI, SDPO Mendhar Neeraj Padyar, Prof Jagbir Singh, Saint Gurupdesh from Uttarakhand, Surjan Singh General Secretary, Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Onkar Singh, Devinder Kumar, Member Sanatan Dharam Sabha Imran Choudhary Congress leader and Pardeep Khanna. Over four thousand people including those from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, UP and Utarakhand participated in the Mela. The devotees had installed stalls enroute serving the visitors cold drinks, tea and eatables, and fruits. The programme started in the morning with Havan, Pooja and Kirtan. Later, lectures continued till afternoon. Speakers claimed that Lohar Devta is a common place for Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims and it is believed that it is because of this holy place that inspite of brisk shelling by enemy forces there had been no loss in the area. Langar was also served among the devotees.
