STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Jammu & Kashmir Medical Employee Federation (JKMEF) Jammu, an amalgam of all the Nursing, Paramedical and ancillary support staff of prestigious hospitals of the state, on Monday held a strong protest and started hunger strike for not redressing the long pending demands of medical fraternity. Speaking on the occasion, President JKMEF, Sushil Sudan said that they are working tirelessly for the betterment of patient care across the State and form the backbone of the two prestigious institutions of the state delivering state of the art health care to the people of the State. It is hereby pertinent to mention that around 1000 paramedical employees (Including staff Nurses. Female/Male Multipurpose Health Worker/Anesthesia Technician /Assistant, Operation Theatre Tech. and Assistants, Medical Lab. Tech. and assistant X-Ray Ct and MRI tech. Medical Asstt. Pharmacists, ECG Tech, Dialysis technicians, Dental Tech. Record Tech.) who are working on an academic arrangement under provisions of SRO 384/409 at GMC Jammu/Srinagar and their Associated hospitals since last 10 years and form the fore manpower of the tow intuitions. The federation emphasized on the turmoil despite working on a meagre salary, which has helped the two institutions to reach new heights in their endeavour in improving patient care services. It is important to mention the fact that the above candidates have been recruited under proper job advertisements and selection procedure through principal Govt. Medical College, and dental College, Jammu/from time to time. The medical employee federation has many times approached the concerned higher authorities regarding the genuine demands but nothing has been the outcome for the same. The GMC-Jammu Administration in 2017 had issued an agreement in favour of us and ensured that the administration of GMC Srinagar will take up the said issue to the government for redressal the genuine demands but nothing has been done in this regard. The medical employees have been forced to take up the extreme step for these temporary employees. They demanded regularization of Academic Arrangement SRO 384/409 employees, regularization HDF/ SDF/Adhoc employees (under the special Service Provision Act 2010), release of salary Release of 2 ½ Days Salary( in favour of Paramedical Staff who Perform Sunday and Gazetted holidays as per roster ). Other who attend the first day Strike Shabir Ahmed Langoo Chairman MEF Srinagar Janak Raj, Gourav Sharma, Rajiv Chopra, Mahatama, Subash, Kahild Rizwan, Manish, Roshy Dubey, Parveen Kumari, Veerta, Sonika, Sujata, Sapna, Rekha and Renu.
