RAJOURI: The block level task force meeting on Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) in Manjakote Urban and Rural Health Block was held on Wednesday.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue Qyoom Mir, District Immunization Officer, Dr. Anees A Nabi, World Health Organisation consultant Ishan Narma, BMO Manjakote Dr. Kabir-I Azam, principals of government and private institutions, CDPOs, medical officers and teachers attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Assistant Commissioner Revenue explained in detail about the necessary guidelines for pre and post school campaign including safety and efficacy of the vaccine and urged the teachers to create proactive and conducive atmosphere in the school towards vaccination.
Highlighting the role of teachers in the MR campaign, ACR stressed upon the teachers to organise parent-teacher meeting in the schools to sensitise them about the MRV campaign and its significance.
District Asha Coordinator said the campaign aims to build up immunity for both measles and rubella diseases and prevent the diseases in the community. Children aged between 9 months and 15 years are to be vaccinated during the campaign.
He stressed upon the participants to motivate children as well as their parents for the vaccination.
Speaking on the occasion, District Immunization Officer informed that Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has resolved to eliminate Measles and control Rubella by 2020 and therefore, every child need to be vaccinated to knock out the disease. He also informed that about 2 lacs children will be vaccinated during this campaign in District Rajouri.
He also urged the participants to disseminate the information at the grass root level to ensure maximum coverage under the campaign.
