JAMMU: A deputation of All India Masih Seva Dal led by its President, Camres David Babbloo met Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar and apprised him that about 1,035 Safai Karamcharis are working in Jammu Municipal Corporation under the banner of NGO.
Thomas Khokkar, President Christian Congress and Secretary JKPCC and Titus Gill, Secretary District Congress Committee Jammu were also present.
“1035 Safaikaramcharis have been rendering their services for the last 10 years. Some of them have become over-aged for their employment in government services,” Khokkar said. Babbloo apprised the Deputy Commissioner that the State Government advertised 600 posts for employment of Safaikaramcharis in JMC on need basis. He sought relaxation in age of Safaikaramcharis who are working for the last ten years in JMC.
He appealed to the Deputy Commissioner that the Safaikaramcharis working under the NGO may be allowed to fill up the forms for the posts so that their future will be saved.
The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the deputation and advised them to prepare a representation which will be forwarded to the government so that the genuine grievances of Safaikaramcharis are redressed.
