SUNDERBANI: In the absence of proper repair and maintenance by the PWD, the Maqole – Batatala Road has been closed for traffic due to which the villagers, particularly the school going children have to cover a long distance on foot daring the risk of flood in local Nallas. Ex-Sarpanch village Nallah said that the road was constructed in 2005 under PMGSY Scheme and later handed over to PWD for repair and maintenance. The ARTO Rajouri had also issued route permits to buses for regular service.
Due to non-maintenance of this road by the PWD, it has become defunct for the last more than two years and in spite of repeated requests no action has been taken by the department to make this road motorable. The matadors and other vehicles have also stopped plying on this risky road forcing hundreds of passengers and students from number of villages have to walk on foot.
The villagers appealed to Chief Engineer Roads and Buildings Rajouri to issue suitable instructions to the concerned XEn to personally inspect this road and take necessary action so as to make it functional keeping in view the miseries of the people.
