JAMMU: A man set himself at fire at lover’s home in Nagrota area on Tuesday afternoon. After getting the information police reached the spot and shifted the man to hospital in a critical condition where he succumbed to burns during the treatment. Police took the body under its custody for postmortem. Nagrota SHO said investigations are on to find the reasons behind such an extreme step. According to reports Vikram Singh, son of Balbir Singh, resident of Akalpur, reached the house of the woman in Nagrota in the afternoon where her sister-in law and another woman were present. The man spoke to the woman for some time and after that he sprinkled kerosene and set himself ablaze. People reached the spot after hearing the cries and doused the fire and informed the police. He was shifted to a hospital where he died during the treatment. Police took the body under its custody and conducted the postmortem. The body was handed over to the relatives. Police registered a case of mysterious death. Police also recorded the statement of woman’s relatives. According to them the man had asked the woman to marry him. After that he sprinkled the kerosene he had carried with him. Police is investigating the case but has not ruled out love angle.
