MAHORE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday interacted with the field functionaries of ICDS/ Health Departments in a Direct Samvad organised by Ministry of Women and Child Development/ Health Department, Government of India under Poshan Abhiyaan.
In Mahore, the main function was organised by CDPO Mahore Anjum Ganai in the meeting hall, in which besides field staff of ICDS, villagers, adolescent girls, women, students, Ex Panchs/ Sarpanchs and people from trade fraternity participated. The main aim of organising such an event with public participation was to spread the message of the importance of optimum nutrition, so as to make the message reach in every house hold of Mahore. Speaking on the occasion CDPO said that malnutrition which means deficiency in physical and mental growth of the child mainly happens during the first two years of the child’s birth, which means that the malnourished child can not participate in the development of the country. Since children are the assets/ future of any country, and as such we need to wage a war against this silent enemy (malnutrition), with the pledge to make every house of Mahore Tehsil malnutrition free, with the slogan malnutrition-quit India.
While highlighting the Poshan Abhiyaan, she said that government has fixed targets to reduce stunting, anaemia (among young children, women and adolescent girls) and low birth weight by 2 per cent, 2 per cent, 3 per cent and 2 per cent per annum, respectively. Later a rally was organised by CDPO office Mahore which passed through the main market of Mahore.
