State Times News RAJOURI: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri is organizing 15 day long program under Jal Shakti Abhiyan as per the guidelines of MHRD. Today an event was organised by the Jal Shakti Abhiyan team to highlight the harmful effects of plastic on environment. Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Javed Musarrat was the chief guest on the occasion. While speaking on the ocassion, Prof. Musarrat congratulated the coordinator and his team for making the compaign a great success. Prof. Musarrat said that plastic has become a major environmental challenge in recent years. He said that the pervasive nature of plastic in the environment has led to its entry in the human body, posing a threat to human health. Prof. Musarrat said that all plastics may leach chemicals if they’re scratched or heated at certain exposure levels, some of the chemicals in these products, such as bisphenol A (BPA), may cause cancer in people. The Vice Chancellor advised the gathering to completely avoid all plastic products and try to use as little plastic as possible. On the occasion, Prof Musarrat congratulated Dr.Parvaiz Abdullah, Coordinator, SBA for his tireless efforts in making BGSBU a clean and green campus. The Vice Chancellor said that we must work together to make BGSBU a plastic free campus. Earlier a thought provking presentation on the effects of plastic on water bodies was delivered by Er. Parvaiz Alam, Coordinator of the program. Thoses who were present on the ocassion included, Prof . Naseem Ahmed, Dean ,Management , chief Proctor , Provost, Heads of various departments and students of the University.
