REASI: The Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Reasi on Wednesday realised a fine of Rs 30,000 from three traders for selling underweight items.
The enforcement team of LMD headed by Assistant Controller Kuldeep Raj checked the weight of cement bags being sold by dealer M/S Sharma Cement Traders, Nai Basti Reasi which was found 600 grams less than the net weight of 50 kg.
The LMD Reasi imposed Rs. 20,000 as penalty on the aforesaid cement dealer for selling underweight cement bags and issue directions to return all the underweight bags to the manufacturer viz. M/S JK Cement Corporation, 37 Industrial Extension Kathua for refilling the bags.
Meanwhile, Inspector LMD Reasi Vicky Sharma booked three sweet shop owners namely M/S Jammu Sweet Shop Reasi, Sharma Sweet Shop Reasi and Gupta Sweet Shop Reasi for less delivery of sweets to the consumers.
Two sweet shop owners were penalised on spot by the Assistant Controller LMD Reasi and penalty of Rs. 5,000 each was recovered from the defaulters.
