JAMMU: Intensifying its drive to protect consumers from exploitation by unscrupulous traders and to keep check on the price of essential commodities in view of ensuing Eid-ul-Fitr, Enforcement wing of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) conducted market inspections , here on Thursday.
The team conducted surprise checking of different business establishment in various localities including Dogra Chowk, Pacca Danga, BC Road, Janipur, Roop Nagar, Akhnoor and adjoining areas.
During inspection, different business establishments were inspected for their compliance with regard to various provisions of J&K Standard of Weights and Measures Enforcement Act 2011(Amended) and packages Commodities rules.
The 10 erring traders were booked and penalty of Rs 22,400 was imposed on them for violation of various provisions of the Act.
