STATE TIMES NEWS DODA: Additional Sessions Judge Doda Zabair Ahmed Raza awarded life-imprisonment to Javed Iqbal, son of Abdul Gani Butt, resident of Shaleen Shamithi, Tehsil and District Doda who was facing trial in murder case. After hearing both the sides, the court observed that Javed Iqbal is a young person and the imposition of sentence for life imprisonment would serve the interest of justice and that the present case does not fall in the category of rarest of rare case so as to the imposition of death sentence. “Keeping in view the age of the convict, imprisonment for life shall be adequate sentence in the present case. Accordingly, convict/accused is sentenced to undergo imprisonment for life and a fine of Rs. 30,000 for offence under Section 302 RPC, in causing the murder of Abdul Rashid Giri. In default of payment of fine, accused shall undergo further imprisonment for six months. The sentence of imprisonment for life, however, shall be subject to confirmation by the High Court”, the court observed. According to the police case, a missing report has been registered on May 17, 2007. The complainant, who is the son of deceased along with Abdul Gani Manshoor again appeared in the Police Post, Kastigarh and presented a written application addressed to the Incharge, Police Post, Kastigarh, alleging therein that from April 25, 2007, his father was missing for which they have filed the missing report in the Police Post and after that they have tried to know the whereabouts of the missing person secretly. “Now, he came to know that Javed Ahmed, son of Abdul Gani Butt, resident of Shaleen Shamithi, Tehsil Doda, for the sake of money and greediness, has murdered his father, whose dead body has been kept somewhere in hidden position”, the application reads adding that some other people were also involved in this murder and it is requested that inquiry be conducted and legal action be taken against them.
