STATE TIMES NEWS LEH: On the initiative of Stanzin Gya, prominent filmmaker, the students of Government Middle School Gya are all set to go for a month long cultural exchange tour to France next month. In this context and as a bid of trial, a striking premier cultural show highlighting the values of age-old culture of Ladakh was presented by the students and teaching staff of Government Middle School Gya at Lotsava Auditorium of Cultural Academy Leh which received huge applause from the jam-packed auditorium. The Ramon Magsaysay Awardee, Sonam Wangchok was the Chief Guest on the occasion while the Joint Director Education Ladakh Tashi Dolma was the Guest of Honour. Those present on the occasion included LBA Vice President, PT Kunzang, President LBA Women’s Wing Rinchen Wangmo, Morup Namgial, veteran dramatist and Sangeet Natak Academy awardee Mipham Otsal, President LBA Youth, Konchok Stak, a galaxy of cultural fraternity, prominent filmmaker Stanzin Dorjey Gya, officers and officials of Cultural Academy, members of Youth Association of Gya-Miru, villagers and Panchayat members of Gya-Miru. Combining with the show, the SVEEP team of Education Department led by Joint Director Education Ladakh Tashi Dolma organised a grand awareness drive for all the eligible voters for their maximum participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on May 6. Election badges highlighting the importance of vote were also distributed among the audiences. Sonam Wangchuk in his speech termed the France trip as a big opportunity for the students of a government school to learn many things and upgrade their knowledge level mainly in the field of education. He advised them to precisely observe and experience each moment in France so that they could bring good things to Ladakh in exchange. He appreciated the efforts put by Stanzin Gya in accomplishing a cultural exchange tour of France for the students of a rural government school. Sonam Wangchuk further announced to create resources and opportunities for those students studying in other government schools of remote areas so that they could also see similar dream of visiting European countries. Commenting on the constant election awareness drives, Wangchuk highly appreciated the efforts of Leh Election Authority in this elections saying that it would largely help in strengthening the democracy and overall growth of the country and also appealed to the people to urgently vote on May 6. Tashi Dolma and Stanzin Gya also spoke on the occasion and gave a detail summary about the projected France tour. Extending thanks to all those who have supported Gya students in realising the France tour, they described it as a big exemplary support. Tashi Dolma and Stanzin Gya further appealed to the audience as well as the people of Ladakh to vote on May 6.
