JAMMU: Laxmi Cricket Club on Tuesday qualified for the semifinals beating Bhatia Cricket Club by 12 runs in the quarterfinal of the ongoing JKCA Premier Cricket Championship at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here.
Batting first, Laxmi Club set a target of 207 runs for the loss of nine wickets in allotted 30 overs. Nipun Verma played fine innings of 68 runs off 66 balls while Vicky and Bobby contributed 43 and 39 runs respectively. For Bhatia Club, Shivam claimed three wickets. Jaipaul and Ashwani shared two wickets each.
In reply, Bhatia Club could not maintain the required run rate and exhausted their quota of 30 overs for 194 runs losing eight wickets.
Abhishek’s brilliant unbeaten innings of 87 runs off 69 balls (8×4, 3×6) gone in vain and the side lost the game by 12 runs. Shivam contributed 24 runs. Kalvinder took two wickets for Laxmi Club while Aman, Rahul, Govind and Sameer shared apiece each. For his superb innings of 87 not out, Abhishek was declared Man of the Match. Ashok Singh and Rahul were Umpires while Saleem ur Rehman was Scorer.
