JAMMU: Choudhry Lal Singh can do anything, can go to any extent; he knows no bounds, no limits. He can abuse anyone anywhere; he can ridicule or harass everyone, no matter a woman or an elderly person. He is an unbridled single man army who can strike at any point of time without any reason or rhyme.
Lal Singh, who calls himself Minister for Health, which fortunately or unfortunately he is, should not be blamed for surfacing anywhere and humiliating anyone. A person, who did not spare Prime Minister Narendra Modi before staging a grand entry into his Bharatiya Janata Party, will care two hoots for a lady doctor. A political rebel, as he is, can not only get away with choicest invectives against Narendra Modi, reminding him of his history as a Chai Wallah and a ‘man of little substance’ compared to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, but also herd of craft of calling names.
BJP leadership and cadre is still haunted about the video that went viral on Youtube on 20th August 2014 after he had ditched the Congress and his mentor Ghulam Nabi Azad over denial of ticket during the parliamentary elections. The abuses in the video must be still echoing in BJP war-rooms and haunting the dedicated cadre. Taking jibe on Modi, he had described BJP cadre as hoarders, thieves, dishonest and a bunch of cunning people. He had hurled all sort of abuses on BJP leaders and workers. He had drawn a ridiculous comparison between Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi by citing the adage Kahan Raja Boj Aur Kahan Gangu Teli. Eulogising Congress culture, he had said, ‘even if we keep a pet, we verify the specie’. On the contrary, he had ridiculed BJP for heralding non-entities on the national scene. He had flaunted his affinity with Rahul Gandhi and said the nation is proud of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehri, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and now Rahul Gandhi. Lal Singh had even asked Modi to stop day dreaming of becoming the Prime Minister of India. He had not spared even Lal Krishan Advani, whose Rath Yatra he mocked by saying that a Dogri girl had asked her mother…Bobo Dekho Muchoon Wala Rama. He had ‘shamed’ Modi for wearing the attire of Lord Krishna.
Post Modi-abuses era is a history for BJP in Jammu and Kashmir, which had not only to tolerate him over the hardcore cadre of decades but to part an important ministry into his kitty much to discomfort of those who had put in precious years of their life in strengthening the party. He is returning the favour by putting the saffron squad in an embarrassment and jittery. What an irony. Narendra Modi began his national inning by pledging to safeguard the women while citing that he had ensured ‘daughters’ to move around in Gujarat freely during dead of nights. Soon-after he had launched Beti Bachao, Beti Padao campaign, which remains his priority across the country. In Jammu and Kashmir, however, his flamboyant minister is humiliating a hapless woman in the full public gaze. The height of all this is that the BJP stalwarts and spokespersons are on toes to side and defend the minister who has not only shamed the party but also demeaned the Prime Minister’s pledge to safeguard the honour and dignity of a woman. They are so brazen faced, who openly criticise the lady doctor who is running from pillar to post for want of justice. Lal Singh must be keeping something important about BJP close to his chest that makes its paper tigers to dance on his tunes. Or else, there may be some grave weakness within BJP leadership that makes them to surrender before the arrogant minister. Whatever might be the compulsions of BJP, the end sufferer remains Dr Gurpreet Kour, who is unlikely to get any justice in Modi Raj.
