STATE TIMES NEWS REASI: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) organised the farmers training programme on “Production technologies in horticultural crops” on Thursday at Sirah village of Painthal block in Reasi. Large number of farmers participated in the programme. Dr.Banarsi Lal, Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi made the farers aware that production of sub-tropical fruits like mango, litchi, aonla, ber, orange, lemon etc. is low in the region although there is an immense potential of sub-tropical fruits crops. He suggested the farmers that by applying the new scientific technologies they can increase their fruit crops production. Bharat Bushan, Agriculture Extension Officer discussed on the certain Centrally and State Centered Government schemes/programmes ongoing in the state specifically for the farmers. A field visit of farmers was also organized. Progressive farmer Tilak Raj, fruits orchard, vermicompost unit, biogas unit etc. were highly appreciated by the scientists. On this occasion many quarries were raised by the farmers which KVK scientists answered in a satisfactorily way. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal and concluded by Dr.Banarsi Lal, Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi with formal vote of thanks.
