STATE TIMES NEWS REASI: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized a farmers’ awareness programme on scientific cultivation of pulses on Wednesday at KVK, Reasi campus which was attended by the number of women farmers of the village. Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal warmly welcomed the participants and apprised them about the importance of pulse crops, their nutritional and food security benefits. He said that pulses production is low in Reasi district and there is dire need to increase the production and productivity of pulses in the area. Dr. Arvinder Kumar spoke on the soil health and soil health cards for the improvement of the productivity of the pulse crops. He also spoke on the pulses processing units and said that by the value addition in the pulse crops farmers can generate more income. In this training programme many quarries regarding the pulses production were raised by the farmers which KVK scientists answered in a very satisfactorily way. KVK, Reasi also laid Cluster Front Line Demonstrations (CFLDs) on black gram in the area. Women farmers took keen interest in the programme and appreciated the KVK efforts on promotion of pulses production in the area. The programme was assisted by Jagdish Kumar and Manohar Lal.
