Several Thai monks observed an annual three-month silent retreat (meditation) at MIMC annually since couple of years. Over 200 monks, nuns and laypersons from Thailand reached Leh in June after a strenuous month-long ‘Pad Yatra- March for World Peace’ from Bodhgaya via Dharamsala to Ladakh on foot. The delegates of Pad Yatra led by lord Abbot of Royal Thai Temple, Singburi province in Thailand, Phrateppariyattisuthi Thongsuk started their journey from Bodhgaya in May after offering prayers at the sacred Mahabodhi Temple. After having an audience with Dalai Lama in Dharamsala and seeking his blessings, the Sangha members embarked on a month-long spiritual journey on foot towards Ladakh crossing high Himalayan terrain and reached Ladakh in the last week of June. A number of monks observed three-month long retreat at MIMC after their journey to Ladakh and after completion of their retreat, Kathina Civara Dana ceremony was observed. Officials and representatives from Dhammakaya Foundation, Thailand and Royal Thai Temple, Singburi also attended the Kathina Civara Dana and made offerings to Sangha members. Calling the occasion an auspicious, Founder-President MIMC, Bhikkhu Sanghasena said that Buddha himself initiated Kathina Civara Dana ceremony which is held after successful completion of three-month long rainy season retreat. He informed this is for the 5th time Kathina Civara Dana is being observed in Ladakh. “Without lay devotees support, Sanghas members cannot do anything and therefore I am very thankful to lay devotees,” he added.
