After heckling, punching and kicking CRPF jawans at Kralpora area in the Chadoora assembly segment in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on April 13, a shocking video showing Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists tonsuring half heads of two PSOs has gone viral. The video, ironically uploaded by the terrorists themselves, has, as usual, again failed to invoke the attention of human rights activists or pseudo secularists across the country. It has also missed the attention of National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah, who sees a hope in Kashmir’s young stone-pelters, doing all the misadventure for their ‘nation’. He, like herd of human rights activists, has not spoken a word on the humiliation of two PSOs who are the natives of the same Kashmir and followers of the same religion. Is this the ‘Azadi’ they are aspiring for their own people? Is this the service they are rendering to the youth of their own ‘nation’? The incident is something that should disturb the so-called mainstream leaders of the Valley who keep crying hoarse over human rights violations as part of their strategy to be seen on tother side of the fence.
Hypothetically speaking, if the army would have taken any of the mainstream leaders as human shield, instead of Farooq Dar on April 15, could anybody even imagine about the scenario that would have followed. The mainstream entity, taken as a human shield, would have come as a blessing in disguise to the pelters. They would have first tackled him and then subjected the army to their fond stone pelting campaign.
Kashmir separatists and mainstream leaders tend to be champions of human rights but selectively. They blow hot and cold when mercenaries get killed and remain mute when civilians are butchered for being ‘informers’ or activists of the mainstream political parties are killed selectively. Recently, two affiliates of the PDP and National Conference-one a district president and another a former public prosecutor-were murdered at point blank range by terrorists but their own colleagues in the mainstream camp reacted guardedly for the fear of terrorists. They were almost abandoned to escape the wrath of Mujahids. Similarly, the PSOs who were partially tonsured today will turn out as persona non grata for even their own relatives. Kashmir has seen worse type of human rights violations when its natives, killed for being informers, were denied a few feet of land for burial.
While Kashmiri mainstream leaders are playing hide and seek for furthering their opportunistic politics, the country’s pseudo secularists and human rights activists have no guts to react to human rights violations being committed against those who subscribe to the idea of India.
The loose cannon of Congress, Digvijay Singh has no words to tweet over the incident involving PSOs. His colleague in Kashmir Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz will not invoke National Human Rights Commission for dispensing justice to the young boys who have chosen to serve the police for protection of their brethren and secure politicians like Abdullahs, Muftis and Sozs.
Similarly, the political analysts and activists of Luytens’ Delhi won’t find it lucrative or emotionally satisfying to rush to the television channels and condemn the incident as brazen violation of human rights. They all have ganged up to malign India and glorify India bashers. Remember how ferociously they reacted to the action taken against perpetrators of ‘Bharat Ki Barbadi Tak’ in JNU Delhi or verdict delivered after due judicial dispensation to terrorists like Batkal and Afzal Guru.
They have all the time to nail the government and security forces for neutrilising terrorists and anti-national elements but feel shy in naming and shaming the perpetrators of violence in the name of religion. Terrorists and India haters in Kashmir get oxygen in terms of publicity and moral support by activists like Gautam Navlakha, Arundhti Roy and scores of others.
Anti-national campaign in Kashmir is getting support at the conferences and seminars being organized by various associations and organizations, credentials of many of which are suspect. Where from funds flow for such seminars and conferences continues to remain a million dollar question. They are omni-present when the security forces launch campaigns to weed out terrorists but go in hibernation when atrocities against civilians are being perpetrated by Mujahids; when security forces are targeted; when symbols of India are erased; when those not endorsing the terror-ideology are intimidated and hounded out.
Condemning evil does not form agenda of human rights activists, pseudo secularists or mainstream opportunists. They stand roped in for the jobs to malign India and Indian forces. They form part of the gang, which is indulging in intellectual terrorism in Kashmir. They are, therefore, to be tackled and exposed first if peace means anything for Kashmir.
