JAMMU: A Division Bench (DB) of State High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Sindhu Sharma on Thursday granted four weeks’ time to State for filing an affidavit regarding number of green and dried trees that are required to be felled during the construction of road through the forest area falling in Kalakote Forest Range in Rajouri Forests Division and also furnish the details of number of beneficiaries which might ultimately be benefited on completion of this project.
The court direction was passed in a public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking direction to the respondents not to fell trees and engulf forest land falling under compartment Nos. 79/K, 122/K, 123/K and 124/K of aforesaid forest range in the public interest.
