Doda: Thousands of students from various educational institutions including students from Government Degree College Doda on Monday staged a strong protest at District Headquarters Doda in Chenab region, demanding justice for Kathua rape and murder victim.
The students were seen holding placards in their hands, depicting different messages calling for justice in the case of Kathua’s rape and murder.
Speaking on the occasion, one of the male student said that aim of holding this protest was to draw attention towards the violence against women all over world, while a female student, demanded that the culprits of this heinous crime be hanged till death besides demanded a fair investigation into the incident.
Raising different slogans, the protesting students demanded stern punishment to culprits to the extent that in future no one dares to do such a shameful act.
Meanwhile, Young Social Activist from Doda Rashid Hakeem Zargar demanded stringent action against the culprits as well as those tried to save them. They should be given harsh punishment so that it will deter others from doing such acts in future, Zargar added.
Further he told that modesty of women must be respected and Kathua rape victim was not the daughter of a nomadic family only but of the whole country.
Meanwhile, Students of Government Post Graduate (PG) Degree College Bhadarwah also staged a protest and took out a protest rally to demand exemplary punishment for rapists and murderers of eight-year-old girl.
The protest was organised at Govt PG Degree College Bhadarwah, where from a rally was taken out, in which large number of students participated.
“We want the government to shift these cases to Special Courts so that the justice prevails. We have full faith in the Constitution and Courts of the country, but we want justice to be given as soon as possible and create an example so that such heinous acts are not done again,” said Almas Malik, a college student.
“The nation needs to join hands for a change, the law makers need to bring a change in the Constitution, harsh laws are needed so that such things don’t get repeated,” she added.
“How can anyone protect the culprits of such evil? What happened to girl at Kathua is a crime against humanity. The whole country wants justice. Justice delayed is justice denied,” said another student, Simra Malik.
Protesters also demanded transfer of case to Fast Track Court Doda and also demanded proceedings be held under camera observation. Later, Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Government Nagar School and Government Boys Higher Secondary School also joined the protest and sought justice for Kathua rape victim.
