JAMMU: University of Jammu (JU) could not perform to their full potential in the all important game thereby losing the title to Jamia Milia Islamia in the 16th All India Vice Chancellor T20 Cricket Cup at University of Kashmir (KU) grounds, on Thursday. As per the reports reaching here, JU lost the game by nine wickets. Batting first, JU made a slow start and could make 35 runs in their first 10 overs losing one wicket. Their defensive strategy could give them a small total of 127 runs to defend.
Niranjan Singh remained top scored with 61 runs coming off 36 balls studded with three sixes and an equal number of fours. Chasing a target of 128 runs, Jamia Milia Islamia achieved the target in 15 overs losing just one wicket. Wahid played a fiery innings of 10-ball 28 runs while Yousuf played a sensible innings of 53 runs and Ikhlaq contributed 43.
Yousuf was later declared Man of the Match.
In the valedictory function, Chairman J&K Bank was Chief Guest while Vice Chancellor of KU and other senior officials and faculty members were among those present.
