SRINAGAR: Registering an outright victory against SKUAST Kashmir, University of Jammu (JU) on Tuesday reached the final of the ongoing All India Vice Chancellor’s Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament hosted by University of Kashmir, here.
Now, JU shall take on Jamia Milia Islamia University in the title clash slated for September 13. Jamia Milia Islamia, in other semifinal, defeated the formidable side of Chandigarh University by a wafer thin margin of one-run.
Earlier, batting first, SKUAST Kashmir could make 114 runs, courtesy calculated bowling spells from Avtar and Sandeep Bakshi, who shared two wickets each. Rajesh Salhotra, Sumeet and Niranjan Singh took one wicket each for JU.
In reply, JU chased the target in 19 overs losing just one wicket.
Deepak played superb unbeaten 47 runs to remain highest run getter. Sumit and skipper Rajesh also played sensible innings contributing 30 and 27 runs respectively. Later, Deepak was declared Man of the Match.
Meanwhile, Registrar, JU, Dr Meenakshi Kilam congratulated the team for qualify for the final.
