STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: To commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R Ambedkar, Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu in collaboration with National Service Scheme Campus Units organised a symposium on topic ‘Political Democracy is incomplete without Social Democracy’ at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium. A guest lecture was presented by Prof. Devinder Singh from Panjab University, Chandigarh. Prof. Desh Bandhu Gupta, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest at the valedictory function. Earlier in her welcome address, Prof Satnam Kour, Dean Students Welfare highlighted Ambedkar’s role in framing India’s constitution. Twenty students of different colleges and the departments of the University of Jammu participated in this event and paid tributes to Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar through their presentations. Afsaan Farooq from GCW Gandhi Nagar, Tushar Kalsotra from The Law School, JU and Navamani Hans from Department of Zoology, JU stood first, second and third respectively. Certificates of Merit were awarded to Sushant Sharma from Department of Zoology, JU and Harsimrat Kour from from GCW Gandhi Nagar. Sh. Jagdish Chander and Dr. Anubhav Mathur were the adjudicators for the event. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Anupama Vohra, Associate Dean SW. Prof. Desh Bandhu Gupta and Prof. Jasbir Singh, Chairman Campus NSS Units also spoke on the occasion. Student Cultural Secretaries Hemant Magotra, Radhika Sharma, Neha Bajal, Kirti Sharma and NSS Volunteers did the Hall Management. The event was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma and Ifra Kak.
