JAMMU: Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) and the inmates of Jammu Red Cross Society (JRC) Home for Handicapped, Udheywala celebrated Lohri with the families of Governing body members of Home.
The function was inaugurated by Kavinder Gupta, Speaker of J&K Legislative Assembly, While MLC Vikram Randhawa, Satish Sharma, Joint Secretary JRC Home, Swantanter Aggarwal and M.L Dogra, former Regional Director, Song and Drama Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and prominent persons of State were Guests of Honour.
Over 80 inmates including 20 deaf and dumb unturned about their physical capabilities gave scintillating cultural performance. The children of executive body JRC Home also presented colourful dances and song with differently-abled childrens and BLSKS artists.
The BLSKS artistes who were present include K.K Joshi, Usha Handoo, Raju Bajgal, Rajni Gupta, Neelam Gandotra, Kamli Devi, Deepak Kumar, Sahil Kumar, Afroz Raaz, Rahul Raina, Uttam Singh and Anjana Padual.
P.C Kapoor, President JRC Home unveiled various projects undertaken in hand for overall development of inmates for making them self reliant.
Joginder Chhatarpal, Secretary of the Home and President of Dogri Sanstha Jammu conducted the proceeding of the function. He informed that more than Rs 30 lakh were spent every year for differently-abled children.
MLC Vikram Randhawa announced funds for fixing tiles in the premises of JRC Home.
M.L Dogra, Chairman BLSKS also spoke on the occasion.
