JAMMU: Jammu Municipal Corporation and Traffic Police on Tuesday jointly conducted anti-encroachment drive and seized about two truck-load of material.
On the instructions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Ramesh Kumar (IAS) and Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Joginder Singh, a comprehensive drive was jointly conducted by the special teams of JMC, Traffic Police and Executive Police under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner (Rev.), JMC, Vinakshi Koul, SDPO Bakshi Nagar Varun Jandyal and DySP (Traffic) Sunny Gupta.
The drive was conducted in the areas of Rehari Chungi, Rehari Colony, Subash Nagar upto Petrol Pump. The drive was conducted against the illegal encroachments caused by the shopkeepers, illegal hoardings, wrongly parked vehicles and street vendors causing traffic congestion and obstruction to free movement of pedestrian on footpaths.
During the drive, the team removed two truckloads of material displayed by the shopkeepers in front of their shops and lifted six of illegal Rehris plying without licence.
The Traffic Police also lifted the wrongly parked vehicles on the roads and Challaned vehicles violating the traffic rules causing traffic congestion on the roads.
DySP Dev Raj, DTI Sandeep Mahajan, Revenue Officers Parmod Kumar, Ashwani Sudan, Parveen Gupta, Sunil Gupta of JMC, Assistant Enforcement Officer, Madan Lal and field staff of JMC also accompanied the drive.
