JAMMU: To make the public aware and spread the message of Swachh Bharat Mission as well as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) on Friday flagged off rally from Government High School Pul Tawi to Bikram Chowk.
R.S Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A), JMC, Dr. Anita Salgotra, Health Officer, JMC officials along with students of the Pul Tawi School and Village Education Committee members participated in the rally which was held on the instructions of Dr. Manmohan Singh, Commissioner, JMC.
Earlier, Joint Commissioner (A), JMC at the school premises sworn in and administered the Swachhta Oath to the officers, officials of JMC and school administration, VEC members and students.
The students of the school appealed to the public to enroll their wards in government schools as free books, free uniforms and mid day meals are being provided in these schools.
Jamwal appealed to the gathering to use dustbins installed and being provided by JMC for disposal of garbage instead of throwing in every nook and corner and also use individual and public toilets to avoid open defecation to make the healthy environment.
The students also performed Nukkad Natak at Bikran Chowk to make the public aware in general to make our city clean and green.
One of the students, Shamshad Bano of 9th Class has been selected as Ambassador for JMC to spread the message of Swachta in the common masses for the success of Swachh Bharat Mission.
The Headmaster of the Government School, Sunita Gupta presented vote of thanks.
