POONCH: The Jammu and Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) district Poonch held a General Body meeting under its President Tarlok Singh Tara on Wednesday in which the participants thanked the Government of Jammu and Kashmir and the Centre for releasing the first installment of Rs 5.5 lakh to each family out of the total amount of Rs 30 lakh as one time settlement recommended by Parliamentary Action Committee (PAC) to the DPs of 1947.
Tara also appreciated the relentless efforts made by the PRO Mushtak Ahmed Malik and his office team for clearing the disbursement to a maximum number of DPs. He hoped that the remaining cases will be cleared soon.
Meanwhile he requested that aged people (above 70 years) who are not in a position to complete all the formalities, be extended sympathetic consideration.
In this context a delegation of JK Sharnarthi Action Committee Poonch called on DDC Poonch, submitted a memorandum and apprised him of the problems related to displaced persons of 1947 which include the payment of balance amount of one time settlement and approval of other components of the recommendations made by the PAC.
