JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association (JKOA) held its annual general body meeting, involving representatives of 23 affiliated sports associations, under the chairmanship of president, Rangil Singh, here. The meeting, besides holding deliberations on various issues concerning state sports, constituted different committees considering upcoming 36th National Games hosted by Goa Olympic Association in the month of November.
A committee comprising members Dushyant Sharma, Kuldeep Magotra, Aay Sharma, Kuldeep Handoo, Ravinder Singh, Yudhvir Singh and Vikas Gupta was constituted to finalise the list of outstanding sportspersons of the state for their felicitation.
Another committee was set up, involving Zamir Thakur, Dr Nirmolak Singh, Sunil Sharma, Sanjay Wahi, Irfan Butta and Rajan Sharma, to chalk out the plan to organise the State Games in the disciplines which qualify for the 36th National Games. Yet another committee was constituted to make arrangements for sending the qualified teams for participation in the National Games. The members: H.S Gill, Bhupinder Singh Tirthi, Kuldeep Handoo, Rajan Sharma, S.S Gill, Sharat Chander Singh, Om Parkash and Vikas Gupta.
Earlier, the JKOA felicitated those officials, who were part of the 35th National Games held at Kerala. These officials were H.S Gill, Chef-de-mission, Haji Abdul Qayoom CSO, Deputy chef-de-mission, S.S Gill, Dy. Chef-de-mission and Sharat Chander Singh, Secretary-cum-Treasurer.
Important to mention here that the JKOA has been disaffiliated by the governing body in the State, J and K State Sports Council for not adhering to the laid down norms while electing its (JKOA) office bearers.
